For my first mentor project of my senior year at Otis College of Art and Design, I worked under the direction of Claudia Cividino for Bally. Working with Claudia was an amazing learning experience. We were asked to design a collection of refined luxury separates with rich tones inspired by the earth. I combined the spirit of Bally's luxury craftsmanship with modern shapes. I was influenced by the iconic style of Francoise Hardy, my childhood, and Moonrise Kindgom by Wes Anderson. I grew up sitting on the bleachers at my twin brother's baseball games. My grandmother always brought with her a wool tartan blanket that looked just like this fabric. I would hide under the blanket for warmth and daydream. This coat is an ode to my grandmother, Marilyn, who taught me how to sew and will forever be the chicest woman I know. The colors reflect the interiors of my grandmother's home, which holds so many special memories of my childhood. I added binding to the coat in vintage silk tie fabric. Designed for Bally, this piece is an ode to the brand's heritage, but also personally to my own roots and the origin of my dreams.
